DOUG DUENKEL
Douglas Duenkel is currently the CEO and co-founder of Kairos Data Communications, a technology sales consulting provider to Commercial Enterprises. He is also the CEO of Innovations for Gospel Impact (IGI), a faith-based non-profit founded with ministry leaders to deliver a sustained message of the Gospel to over 1 million people in 3 years. IGI’s innovative “incubator” approach aims to exponentially grow ministries and support physical and spiritual needs. Prior to his work at IGI, Mr. Duenkel was a founding member of Knight Point Systems, where he served as the President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Duenkel managed the daily operations of the company, focusing on Business Development and the Service Delivery of over 400 Knight Point personnel. In more than 28 years of delivering mission-critical solutions to the Federal Government and Commercial entities, Mr. Duenkel has established a track record of overachievement – logging 13 straight years of uninterrupted growth at Knight Point. In 2008, Mr. Duenkel also co-founded ThunderCat Technology, a very large Value-Added Reseller, selling his stake in the company in 2015. He began his career at Oracle Corporation, focusing on Intelligence agencies and the Department of Defense. Mr. Duenkel was Vice President of Sales for Egenera, Inc., Director of Public Sector for BladeLogic, and ran Federal Sales for GeoTel Communications subsequently bought by Cisco.
A creative, driven and results-oriented entrepreneur, Mr. Duenkel has founded businesses that have grossed over $3.8 Billion in revenues since 2006. Mr Duenkel was awarded the prestigious E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic region for his innovative approach to an As-A-Service Federal business. His company Knight Point Systems was a perennial winner of growth and culture awards including the Best Place to Work in Virginia for 6 straight years, Washington Post and Washingtonian Top Workplace, and made the INC 500/5000 for 8 straight years. Mr. Duenkel is also the Entrepreneur in Residence at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, teaching the COMM 4681 Capstone course for the Entrepreneurship minor.
Mr. Duenkel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia with dual concentrations in Marketing and Management from the McIntire School of Commerce. He also earned a Minor in Religious Studies. He was a scholarship football player whose teams went to three bowl games and won an ACC Championship. In 2017, Mr. Duenkel earned a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from the Reed College of Media at West Virginia University.
Mr. Duenkel is blessed to have been married for 25 years and have 3 healthy children, Halle (22), Justin (19) and Ryan (15). A sports enthusiast, Mr. Duenkel spends his time with his wife at his children’s college, high school, and club
sporting events. An unashamed follower of Jesus Christ, he has a passion for biblical learning and is on the Board of Spurred-On Leaders, a faith-based non-profit focused on helping mature leaders using their talents to spur young leaders to growth.
